Welcome to the United Federation of Phoenix!

The United Federation of Phoenix (UFP) is the longest continuously-running, independent Star Trek & general sci-fi social club in the US. The club meets twice a month at various locations around the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area. As a group we have picnics, go hiking, watch movies, play games, take trips and are active in the volunteer community. Founded in September 1975 by a group of ASU and high school students, the UFP began as a gathering for fans of the original Star Trek series. Long before home video or the internet, members met to watch rare copies of Star Trek episodes and connect with fellow fans. In 1977 the club adopted its first constitution, creating the leadership structure that continues today. As new science fiction franchises emerged, the UFP expanded its focus while remaining rooted in the optimistic spirit of Star Trek.

For more than 50 years, the UFP has been an active part of Arizona fandom. Members have participated in local science fiction conventions through panels, games, parties and other fan activities while also creating projects such as the Quastar fanzine and the Fusion Patrol public access television series. The club also has been publishing our own newsletter (and later full-color magazine), Subspace Chatter, continuously since 1984. Through every era, the club has remained dedicated to bringing fans together and building lasting friendships.

Today the UFP welcomes fans of Star Trek and all areas of science fiction. Members gather twice each month and enjoy hiking, picnics, potlucks, board and card gaming, movie nights, pool parties, holiday celebrations, volunteer opportunities, road trips and attending sci-fi throughout Arizona and beyond.
